Job Description
The Assistant Field Coordinator provides technical and logistical support for the Second Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP2) and its “Window for Host Communities and Refugees” (WHR) objectives. Working under the Senior Programme Management Officer, the role involves bridging the gap between UN-Habitat and local county governments or municipal boards. The coordinator is essential for the successful execution of field activities, capacity-building training, and urban infrastructure development projects, ensuring that all interventions are documented and aligned with humanitarian-development nexus programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to county governments and municipal boards regarding KUSP2-WHR requirements.
- Coordinate field-level activities, including technical planning, mission scheduling, and logistical execution.
- Liaison with various partners to ensure alignment with urban development and human settlements objectives.
- Support the conceptualization, design, and implementation of Urban Institutional Grants (UIG) and Urban Development Grants (UDG).
- Assist in the administration and daily operations of the field office.
- Document training activities and capacity-building sessions for local partners.
- Prepare field progress reports for the Project Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Economics, or a related field. (A Bachelor’s with 2 additional years of experience is acceptable).
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in infrastructure delivery, urban management, or humanitarian-development programming.
- Proven research and technical writing skills are required.
- Experience with the public sector (local governments) and hardship environments is desirable.
- Professional accreditation and experience within the UN system are highly valued.
