Job Description

The Store Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of retail operations for a prominent supermarket. Reporting to the General Manager, this role focuses on driving sales performance, managing stock turnover through FIFO principles, and ensuring ethical procurement practices. The Manager leads the retail team, manages operational budgets, and implements brand visibility campaigns to achieve institutional targets. This position requires an agile leader who can adapt to rapid market changes while maintaining the highest standards of store security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive operational plan to achieve retail chain sales targets
• Manage stock turnover and inventory levels, ensuring FIFO and identifying low-stock or obsolete items
• Lead the retail team, overseeing staff grievances, leave management, and performance coaching
• Conduct ethical procurement of high-quality goods while ensuring transparency in vendor management
• Ensure the safety and security of store premises, staff, and inventory
• Oversee monthly and annual stock-taking exercises and resolve any identified variances
• Prepare and manage comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual operational budgets
• Analyze category and brand performance weekly to inform marketing and stocking decisions
• Maintain up-to-date business licenses and ensure compliance with all retail regulations

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Retail Management
• Demonstrated expertise in procurement processes and ethical vendor management
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret category and brand performance data
• Excellent leadership, communication, and report-writing skills
• Knowledge of the SAGE system or similar retail software is an added advantage
• High integrity and a results-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment
