Job Description

The Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of automation systems supporting Tatu City’s water and wastewater infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring system reliability through the management of PLCs, HMIs, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The technician will bridge the gap between water utilities and smart technology by connecting water meters to smart electricity networks and investigating potential utility theft or meter tampering to ensure service continuity in a growing urban environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission automation systems for water supply and wastewater.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in automated equipment and control systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibration of technical instruments.
  • Connect water meters to smart electricity meters to enable smart functionality.
  • Manage and monitor the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) platform.
  • Conduct on-site verifications for meter reading discrepancies and investigate utility theft.
  • Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and maintain accurate as-built records.
  • Support network optimization efforts for integrated metering systems through data reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the design and maintenance of industrial automation systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
