Statistics Consultant
Overview
Working under the Office of Science, the consultant will drive the mapping and analysis of national data sources focusing on the critical intersection of climate change and gender. The role is pivotal in reviewing environmental-economic accounting frameworks to identify variables essential for natural disaster statistics and gender-responsive policy making.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mapping of national data sources including censuses, geospatial data, and citizen-generated “Big Data.”
- Systematically review environmental-economic accounting frameworks to identify tables and variables relevant to climate change.
- Assess data systems for gender-relevant variables and their potential for disaggregation by sex, age, and geographic area.
- Liaise with the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) and relevant environmental ministries.
- Prepare background analysis and technical materials for national data mapping workshops.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Environmental Science, or Gender Studies (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of technical experience working with national statistics.
- Proven expertise in environment, disaster-related, or gender statistics.
