Job Description

The Sports Lead provides strategic leadership and operational management for Physical Education (PE), swimming, and competitive sports programs. This role is responsible for designing and delivering a high-quality sports curriculum that fosters student health, teamwork, and athletic excellence. Acting as a central coordinator, the Sports Lead aligns all sporting activities with the school’s vision, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive program for all year levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the annual strategic plan for Sports and PE programs
• Design a comprehensive yearly sports calendar, including inter-house competitions, galas, and tournaments
• Oversee the delivery of PE and swimming lessons across all grade levels to ensure curriculum compliance
• Standardize schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment frameworks for the sports department
• Manage event logistics, including transport, venues, and officiating for inter-school fixtures
• Maintain a detailed inventory of sports equipment and ensure all facilities meet safety standards
• Coordinate after-school sports training programs and manage school teams
• Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and external sports bodies regarding schedules and events

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience within an International School environment
• Previous leadership experience managing sports or PE programs
• Valid swimming qualification or lifeguard certification is preferred
• Professional coaching certifications in specific sporting disciplines are an added advantage
• Strong organizational and communication skills with a focus on student well-being
