Job Description
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Supply Chain provides strategic oversight for procurement, logistics, and inventory management within the hospital. This senior leadership role is responsible for the cost-effective and transparent supply of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumables. The role involves modernizing supply chain processes through digital automation, negotiating strategic contracts, and ensuring full compliance with national healthcare standards and procurement laws to support high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a supply chain strategy aligned with the hospital’s master plan.
- Lead initiatives to automate and modernize procurement through digital systems and analytics.
- Oversee all procurement activities for medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and services.
- Ensure transparency and compliance with procurement laws and hospital internal controls.
- Negotiate strategic contracts with key suppliers to achieve quality assurance and cost efficiency.
- Establish supplier performance management systems and conduct regular supplier audits.
- Manage the supply chain budget and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety.
- Lead and build capacity within the procurement, logistics, and inventory teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- Master’s Degree in a related field is highly preferred.
- Professional certification such as CPSP-K.
- Valid membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
- 10–12 years of experience in supply chain, with 5–7 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience within a healthcare institution is preferred.
