Job Description

The Custodial Service Officer is responsible for the efficient processing and settlement of equity trades and the safe custody of client assets. This role ensures that all client instructions are executed with precision within the established market timelines. By conducting rigorous daily reconciliations and pre-matching trade transactions, the officer mitigates operational risk and ensures that the bank provides a seamless and secure custodial experience for institutional and individual investors.

Key Responsibilities

• Process client trade instructions promptly upon receipt across various equity markets
• Conduct pre-matching of trade transactions with brokers and counter-parties to ensure successful settlement
• Perform daily reconciliations of cash and security positions to ensure data integrity
• Facilitate the settlement of trades through the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC)
• Respond to client inquiries regarding corporate actions, dividend payments, and portfolio status
• Monitor and report on failed or delayed trades to the Custody Manager and relevant stakeholders
• Ensure that all custodial operations comply with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) regulations
• Maintain accurate digital and physical records of all custodial transactions and client agreements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Banking, or a related field
• Professional qualification such as CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment) is an advantage
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in custodial services, investment operations, or stockbroking
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan equity and fixed-income market infrastructure
• Exceptional analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in banking and custodial software systems
