Job Description

The Communication & Social Media Intern works under the direct supervision of the Public Information Officer to support the United Nations Information Service (UNIS). This role is centered on creating compelling digital content and enhancing the UN’s online presence. The intern will assist in producing visual assets, managing social media engagement, and supporting media accreditation for major events. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain experience in international strategic communications and advocacy campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Support photography and videography assignments, producing short videos tailored for digital audiences.
• Create visual assets for social media and the UNIS website using Canva, Adobe InDesign, and Illustrator.
• Draft engaging content for social media platforms to increase interactivity and youth engagement.
• Perform daily media monitoring and gather key newspaper headlines for reporting.
• Assist in managing Facebook Live sessions and other digital advocacy events.
• Support administrative tasks including participant registration and media accreditation.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure visual branding aligns with UN standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program, the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or a recent graduate (within one year).
• Preferred fields of study: Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or IT.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a strong advantage.
• Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and multicultural sensitivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• No professional work experience is required, but related academic background is mandatory.
