Job Description

The Business Development and Partnerships Associate identifies funding opportunities and coordinates proposal development within the refugee and humanitarian sector. This role focuses on resource mobilization, donor engagement, and building strategic partnerships with NGOs and private sector actors. The Associate will manage the Grant Management System (GMS), maintain a pipeline of opportunities, and conduct sector analysis to inform the organization’s strategic growth and sustainability in Kenya and the broader region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and track funding opportunities relevant to humanitarian programming.
  • Prepare concept notes, grant applications, and fundraising strategies.
  • Maintain strong communication with donors and prepare briefing materials for visits.
  • Update and manage the internal Grant Management System (GMS).
  • Map potential NGOs and private sector partners; draft MOUs and lead due diligence.
  • Maintain a comprehensive partnerships database to track engagement and follow-ups.
  • Conduct research on donor priorities and regional humanitarian funding trends.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Public Relations, or Social Sciences.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience in resource mobilization or donor engagement.
  • Proven experience in grant writing and proposal development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience with donor management systems.
  • Knowledge of the AAP framework and PSEA principles is essential.
