Job Description

The Business Development Advisor serves as a direct consultant and coach to entrepreneur clients within Inkomoko’s communities, specifically focusing on the Dadaab region. This role is essential for fostering economic self-reliance by providing high-touch business advisory services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The Advisor works on the front lines, helping entrepreneurs improve their business operations, increase their revenue, and access the financial tools necessary for sustainable growth in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one business coaching and advisory services to entrepreneurs in displacement-affected communities
• Conduct business health assessments to identify operational gaps and opportunities for growth
• Assist clients in developing robust business plans, financial records, and marketing strategies
• Deliver group training sessions on core business topics including bookkeeping, sales, and inventory management
• Facilitate client access to financing and investment opportunities through Inkomoko’s loan programs
• Monitor and track client progress through regular field visits and data collection for impact reporting
• Collaborate with the local community and partner organizations to identify high-potential entrepreneurs for support

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in business consulting, SME development, or financial services
• Proven experience working with diverse communities, preferably in refugee or rural contexts
• Strong understanding of financial management, bookkeeping, and business planning for small businesses
• Exceptional communication skills in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages spoken in the region is a plus
• Proficiency in using digital tools and mobile applications for data tracking and reporting
