Job Description
Makini School is seeking two (2) Transport Coordinators to manage and supervise the school’s transportation operations in Nairobi. This critical school logistics job in Kenya requires a Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in fleet management/logistics or a related field, and a Valid Driver’s license (minimum class ABCE) with NTSA PSV license. The Coordinators will be responsible for overseeing the work of drivers, ensuring strict adherence to all laws, safety precautions, and rules regarding the transportation of children, and preparing accurate oral and written reports for management.

Role Overview
The Transport Coordinator will provide direct supervision and coordination for the school’s drivers and transport logistics. Key duties include managing staff (scheduling, coaching, supervision), ensuring all vehicles and operations meet the stringent NTSA requirements, maintaining knowledge of laws and safety precautions for transporting children, utilizing MS Excel/Word for computer-literate reporting, and demonstrating strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex transport issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Coordination: Coordinate and supervise the work of drivers and other transport staff; develop and maintain cooperative working relations.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Laws, safety precautions, and rules about the transportation of children and the maintenance of vehicles.
- Policy Implementation: Read and interpret complex transportation policies and implement written and oral instructions effectively.
- Reporting: Prepare and present accurate oral and written reports to management, utilizing MS Excel and Word.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Manage scheduling and logistics to ensure efficient route management and operational flow.
- Skills: Apply complex problem-solving skills and analytical thinking to logistical challenges.
- Integrity: Be a person of high integrity, committed to professional standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the transportation industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in fleet management/logistics or a related field.
- License: Valid Driver’s license with minimum class ABCE and NTSA PSV license (mandatory).
- Knowledge: Knowledge of Laws, safety precautions, and rules about the transportation of children and vehicle maintenance.
- Skills: Effective communication techniques; computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word; strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
