IT Expert (1 Position) at Insight Axis Africa

About the role

• Architect, build and maintain the technology backbone of our research operations — from digital data collection platforms to analytics infrastructure and cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy mobile data collection solutions (ODK, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, CommCare)
• Manage cloud infrastructure (databases, dashboards, file storage, automations)
• Build and maintain internal web tools, APIs and analytics dashboards
• Enforce cybersecurity, data protection and backup policies
• Provide L2/L3 IT support across the organisation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related
• 4+ years experience including cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and database administration
• Strong skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL
• Experience with BI/visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Metabase)
• Familiarity with statistical/data analysis tools (R, Stata, SPSS) is a plus
• Knowledge of GDPR / Kenya Data Protection Act
