Job Description

The Credit Officer is responsible for the efficient collection of debts and the periodic reconciliation of individual and corporate debtor accounts. This role ensures that all financial interactions align with the Hospital’s credit policy to maintain healthy cash flow and accurate financial records. Reporting to the Credit Manager, the officer acts as a bridge between the hospital and its clients, addressing inquiries and ensuring that credit limits and settlement terms are strictly monitored and enforced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispatch monthly account statements to ensure clients are informed of their debt status
  • Monitor corporate credit limits and escalate accounts that exceed established interim bill thresholds
  • Execute debt collection strategies to meet or exceed established monthly financial targets
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of debtor records
  • Receive client remittances, update debt records, and submit payments to the treasury department
  • Address client inquiries regarding bank guarantees and contracts in coordination with corporate scheme teams
  • Prepare write-off schedules for management approval and respond to internal and external audit queries
  • Identify and recommend qualifying clients for rewards programs to the marketing department

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field
  • Partial accounting qualification (CPA Part II or ACCA 2)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit control or credit management
  • Thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant taxation legislation
  • Knowledge of financial information management systems and regulatory requirements in the healthcare sector
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
