Senior Program Business Development Advisor — IRC (Nairobi)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring a Senior Program Business Development Advisor for its global team in Nairobi. This role is focused on driving new business by managing complex, high-value proposals for donors like the World Bank, USAID, and FCDO.

Role Overview

The Advisor serves as a capture and proposal manager, guiding country and technical teams through the business development cycle. You will lead the development of competitive bids, mentor junior staff, and foster strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal development for strategic public opportunities, managing teams, calendars, and deadlines.
  • Develop long-term positioning strategies for wider funding sources and specific frameworks.
  • Strengthen relationships with donors and local partners to support strategic planning.
  • Review and draft expressions of interest and concept notes to ensure compliance with donor standards.
  • Conduct after-action reviews to capture and disseminate learning across the organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • At least six years of business development experience, specifically with World Bank, USAID, or FCDO.
  • Familiarity with the Shipley Proposal Development process; fluency in English.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
