Role Overview
The Senior Accountant (Aviation) will manage the core financial processes of the company, focusing heavily on inventory control for aircraft parts, managing receivables from diverse clients (safari, humanitarian, maintenance), and ensuring robust statutory compliance. The role demands strong analytical skills for cost analysis, budget support, and the preparation of management reports, including essential cash flow forecasts for liquidity management.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Accounting: Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and accurate general ledger entries.
- Invoicing & Collection: Prepare, issue, and rigorously track invoices for diverse clients (charter, safari, maintenance), ensuring accuracy and the timely collection of receivables.
- Inventory & Stock Control: Maintain and reconcile inventory and stock records, working closely with maintenance and operations teams to ensure proper valuation and control of aircraft parts and consumables.
- Compliance & Tax: Ensure full compliance with all local tax and statutory requirements, including timely filing of VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory returns.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare critical management reports summarizing financial performance, provide insights for strategic decision-making, and prepare essential cash flow reports to monitor liquidity.
- Audit Support: Support all internal and external audit processes, ensuring comprehensive documentation and transparency are maintained.
- Reconciliations: Proactively monitor and reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and client accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Budget Support: Assist management with budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial forecasting activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in inventory management, comprehensive invoicing, and robust financial reconciliation is essential. Prior experience within the aviation or a similar technical/project-based industry is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and clear communication abilities.
- Software: Proficiency in relevant accounting software and systems is required.
