Job Description
Flexi-Personnel is seeking a motivated Payroll Intern to join the finance department in Nairobi. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Payroll Accountants in executing daily business and payroll operational processes. This position offers strategic value by ensuring the accuracy of employee data and the timely processing of remunerations. Reporting directly to the senior payroll team, the intern will gain hands-on experience in human resource management and financial compliance within a leading recruitment and HR consultancy firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist payroll accountants in the preparation and processing of monthly payroll for various clients.
- Support the maintenance of accurate employee records and payroll databases.
- Help in the reconciliation of statutory deductions including PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, and Housing Levy.
- Facilitate the distribution of payslips and respond to basic payroll-related inquiries from employees.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports and documentation for audit purposes.
- Coordinate with the HR team to ensure all new hires and terminations are correctly updated in the system.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related business field.
- Basic understanding of Kenyan labor laws and statutory tax requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
