Job Description
The Medical Claims Analyst at Kenindia Assurance Company Limited is responsible for the meticulous evaluation and processing of medical insurance claims. The role holds strategic value by ensuring that claim settlements are accurate, timely, and compliant with both policy terms and medical standards, thereby protecting the company from financial leakage and fraudulent activities. Reporting to the Head of Department, the analyst manages the end-to-end workflow of medical billing, provider reconciliation, and stakeholder communication within the health insurance domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Record daily incoming medical bills and verify claims against active insurance policies to confirm coverage.
- Reconcile accounts for medical service providers and ensure facilities are registered with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Register claims and set adequate financial reserves while vetting for the authenticity of questionable claims through investigators.
- Verify that dispensed drugs and provided treatments align with the diagnosis and are covered under specific policy terms.
- Manage financial compliance by ensuring withholding tax for doctors is deducted before cheque dispatch.
- Facilitate the communication of liability to clients through discharge vouchers and oversee the proper dispatch of settlement cheques.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in a business-related field, Insurance, or Health Administration.
- Professional certifications such as AIIK (Associate of the Insurance Institute of Kenya) or CPA.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in medical claims processing or health insurance.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on medical coding and policy interpretation.
- Proficiency in accounting and reconciliation practices.
- High level of customer service for managing internal and external stakeholders.
