Mechanical Technicians — Tatu City Limited (Nairobi)

Tatu City Limited is seeking skilled Mechanical Technicians to join its engineering and assembly team in Nairobi. This demanding engineering job in Kenya requires a Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and hands-on experience in automotive/plant or machinery assembly. The Technicians will be responsible for the end-to-end assembly of tractors and related heavy machinery, performing complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic installations, troubleshooting issues, and conducting quality checks to ensure all units meet industry standards before delivery.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Technicians are key contributors to the assembly line, responsible for both technical execution and quality assurance. Key duties include accurately interpreting technical manuals and assembly diagrams, collaborating closely with the sales team to meet daily targets, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical/hydraulic faults during assembly, and maintaining tools and a highly organized, fast-paced working environment. Experience with tractor or heavy equipment assembly is a significant advantage.


Key Responsibilities

  • Machinery Assembly: Assemble tractors and related heavy machinery strictly according to technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Installation: Perform complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic installations during the assembly process.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues encountered both during and after the machinery assembly process.
  • Quality Checks: Conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure all units meet high company and industry standards before release.
  • Technical Interpretation: Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and assembly diagrams accurately.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to ensure alignment and meet daily assembly targets.
  • Maintenance: Maintain all tools, specialized equipment, and ensure a clean, safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience in automotive/plant or machinery assembly; experience with tractor or heavy equipment is an added advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals; strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
