Job Description

The Manager of Information Security is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the Bank’s comprehensive information security strategy. This role ensures the protection of institutional data and digital assets by developing robust frameworks and policies that align with global security standards. Working closely with the Head of Enterprise Risk, the manager mitigates technological threats and ensures that the bank’s security posture supports its operational resilience and regulatory compliance in a dynamic financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Bank’s information security strategy, framework, and operational policies
• Coordinate with the Head of Enterprise Risk to ensure comprehensive risk coverage across all digital platforms
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security gaps
• Oversee the deployment and management of security tools, including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems
• Lead the incident response team in investigating and resolving security breaches or cyber threats
• Ensure full compliance with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) cybersecurity guidelines and other regulatory requirements
• Drive institutional security awareness programs to foster a culture of data protection among staff
• Evaluate third-party vendor security risks and provide recommendations for mitigation

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related cybersecurity field
• Professional security certifications such as CISM, CISSP, or CISA are highly preferred
• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in information security, specifically within the banking or financial services sector
• Deep understanding of network security, cryptography, and cloud security architectures
• Proven experience in developing security policies and institutional risk management frameworks
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage complex technical projects
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
