Job Description

The Insurance Business Development Officer is responsible for driving the growth and sustainability of the Insurance Agency unit. This role involves developing a robust sales pipeline, managing policy renewals, and ensuring excellent customer service. The officer acts as a bridge between the agency and underwriters, overseeing premium reconciliations and commission payments. Additionally, the role ensures that the company’s own collaterals are adequately insured to mitigate institutional risk while providing expert insurance advice to a growing clientele.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Finance and Admin Manager to prepare and comply with the unit’s budget.
• Develop and manage a sales pipeline for diverse insurance products and services.
• Ensure timely renewal of all existing insurance policies within the agency.
• Maintain accurate customer information in both physical and digital formats.
• Facilitate timely payment of insurance premiums and reconciliation with underwriters.
• Advise clients on insurance-related issues, valuations, and industry trends.
• Undertake active marketing initiatives to expand the agency’s client base.
• Communicate company policies effectively to clients and provide timely feedback on inquiries.
• Ensure all company collaterals are correctly insured to manage institutional risk.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Insurance option) or a business-related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in the insurance sector.
• Added Advantage: Diploma in Insurance or professional insurance certification.
• Strong understanding of premium reconciliation and agency-underwriter relations.
