Job Description
Standard Bank Group is seeking an Analyst, Financial Crime Compliance to join its team in Nairobi. This critical banking compliance job in Kenya requires a First Degree in Finance, Law, or a related field, and 3–4 years of experience in the realm of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combatting Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Anti-Fraud, and Anti-Bribery/Corruption. The Analyst will conduct in-depth investigations on flagged accounts and transactions, performing surveillance and analysis to identify potential financial crimes and preparing risk reports for senior management review.

Role Overview
The Analyst, Financial Crime Compliance plays a crucial investigative role, acting on system alerts, manual triggers, and staff escalations. Key duties involve conducting detailed investigations to determine if flagged activity indicates money laundering, terrorist financing, or other predicate offenses. Proficiency in SQL and certifications like ICA or ACAMS are highly beneficial for surveillance and preparing accurate risk notes and reports for senior analysts, ensuring compliance and mitigating exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigations: Conduct in-depth investigations on flagged accounts and transactions to determine if they indicate potential financial crimes (money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, corruption, etc.).
- Surveillance & Analysis: Conduct surveillance and analysis based on system alerts, manual triggers, and staff escalations.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed risk notes and reports for review by senior analysts/managers, ensuring compliance and minimizing operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrate experience in dealing with different stakeholders at various levels, both internal and external.
- Compliance Expertise: Apply experience in the realm of Anti-Fraud, Anti-Bribery, Anti-Market Abuse, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Combatting Financing of Terrorism (CFT) surveillance and investigation.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–4 years Experience in bank processes, products, and systems, and in the realm of Financial Crime Compliance surveillance, analytics, and investigation.
- Education: First Degree in Finance, Law, Information Technology, or any other related field.
- Certifications: ICA, SQL, ACAMS certifications will be beneficial.
