The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), a global non-profit research and development organization established in 2003, is seeking an experienced Capacity Strengthening Consultant to lead its multi-continent strategy for enhancing health research and implementation capacities in LMIC settings.

Role Summary

The Capacity Strengthening Consultant will spearhead DNDi’s efforts in building sustainable research and implementation systems across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The consultant will develop a multi-year strategy, foster partnerships, mobilize resources, and ensure long-term capacity building within health systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct landscape and situational analyses to identify gaps, strengths, and opportunities in health research systems.

  • Develop a comprehensive multi-continent strategy with clear action plans and monitoring indicators.

  • Integrate human resource development, infrastructure support, systems strengthening, and enabling policy frameworks into the strategy.

  • Identify and engage potential partners, including research institutions, networks, and technical agencies.

  • Propose mechanisms for sustainable knowledge exchange and collaboration.

  • Support fundraising efforts through concept notes, proposals, and grant applications.

  • Represent DNDi in external stakeholder engagements, building and maintaining strong partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Advanced postgraduate degree (Master’s level or equivalent experience).

  • Over 10 years of experience in senior roles related to capacity strengthening and systems development.

  • Proven experience in resource mobilization, partnership development, and health research systems.

  • Experience working across public and private sectors.

  • Strong track record of developing multi-country or regional strategies.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills.
