University Chaplain
Job Description
The University Chaplain provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the university community, including students and staff. This role involves coordinating religious activities, offering counseling, and promoting a harmonious spiritual environment within the institution. The Chaplain is responsible for ensuring that the spiritual needs of the diverse university population are met through organized worship, guidance, and community outreach, contributing to the holistic development of the university community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate religious services and spiritual programs for students and staff
- Provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual guidance to members of the university community
- Organize interfaith activities and promote religious tolerance within the institution
- Collaborate with university management to integrate spiritual values into the campus culture
- Manage the administrative functions of the University Chaplaincy department
- Offer support and guidance during institutional ceremonies and crisis situations
- Maintain relationships with external religious organizations and professional bodies
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Theology or Religious Studies from a recognized and accredited institution
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Religious Studies from a recognized and accredited institution
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Chaplain I or equivalent
- Valid ordination certification from a recognized religious institution
- Registration with a relevant professional body
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in past work performance

Candidates should provide three (3) referees knowledgeable about their competence and area of specialization, one of whom must be a recent/last employer. Referees are required to submit their confidential reports in sealed envelopes to the address below.
