Training Consultant Open Mapping Kenya

Role Overview

HOT seeks a Training Consultant to design and deliver a comprehensive capacity-building program on open data mapping for sustainable urban mobility planning in Nakuru.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate a five-day in-person training workshop on open mapping workflows.
  • Teach participants to use tools like OpenStreetMap, QGIS, and ODK.
  • Guide exercises on transport accessibility, safety, and climate resilience.
  • Coordinate with local government and community mappers.
  • Produce outputs supporting Nakuru’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience designing and delivering GIS/open mapping training.
  • Strong understanding of urban mobility and open-data tools.
  • Experience working in Kenya or East Africa.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
