Tour Consultant
Role Overview
Travel planning here is not templated or transactional. This role handles complex itineraries, supplier negotiations, and client expectations from first brief to final return, with accuracy and commercial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and customise itineraries for corporate, leisure, MICE, and specialty travel groups
- Manage end-to-end tour logistics including flights, accommodation, transfers, and excursions
- Conduct detailed client needs assessments and convert them into tailored travel solutions
- Negotiate competitive rates with airlines, hotels, DMCs, and suppliers
- Maintain high service delivery accuracy across all bookings
- Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution
- Coordinate invoicing, payments, and reconciliations with finance teams
- Mentor junior consultants to improve service quality and product knowledge
- Conduct destination research and update internal travel databases
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis
- Ensure compliance with regulations, SOPs, and risk-management guidelines
- Represent the company in client meetings and industry events
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Travel, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
- Professional certification in IATA/UFTAA, Tour Operations, or GDS systems is an advantage
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tour operations or travel consultancy
- Experience handling group travel, corporate travel, and specialised itineraries
- Strong supplier management and negotiation experience
- Proficiency with online booking tools and travel management systems
- Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage
