Job Description

The Team Leader for Collections in the Tenant Purchase Administration department is responsible for overseeing the recovery of funds and managing the performance of the collections unit. This role focuses on achieving Portfolio at Risk (PAR) targets while maintaining professional relationships with clients under tenant purchase schemes. The Team Leader balances the need for rigorous debt recovery with a culture of empathy and professionalism, ensuring that the institution’s financial interests are protected through strategic leadership and effective coaching of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the collections team to achieve individual and collective PAR and recovery targets
• Recruit and onboard new collections staff, ensuring they are trained in institutional policies and ethics
• Monitor the collections queue and assign accounts to maximize recovery efficiency
• Develop and implement debt recovery strategies for non-performing tenant purchase accounts
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to drive a results-oriented culture
• Engage with high-value or complex debtors to negotiate settlement plans
• Prepare detailed reports on collection performance and portfolio trends for senior management
• Ensure all collection activities are compliant with legal requirements and internal SOPs

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit collections, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Deep understanding of mortgage or tenant purchase schemes and recovery processes
• Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills
• Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
• Proficiency in banking systems and advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting
• Proven ability to meet strict financial targets under pressure
