Stores Planner / Controller (Business Analyst 1)
Role Overview
This role is ideal for a data-oriented inventory professional who thrives on precision, planning, and system integrity. The Stores Planner / Controller is responsible for ensuring that inventory levels at the Central Bank of Kenya are optimized, accurately recorded, and fully aligned with budgetary controls and the PPADA 2015 framework. The position sits at the heart of inventory intelligence, translating consumption data into actionable planning decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Optimization
- Calculate, monitor, and adjust re-order points and maximum stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking
- Conduct demand forecasting and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) using historical and current usage data
- Analyze consumption trends, lead times, and Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) to guide inventory decisions
- Consolidate annual inventory demand and prepare budget estimates to ensure continuity of supply
Inventory Control & Reconciliation
- Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately captured in the CBK ERP system in real time
- Perform routine stock reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between physical and system records
- Generate inventory ageing reports and identify slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged stock for disposal action
- Initiate replenishment orders for depleted stock in line with approved plans
Operational Support & Reporting
- Work closely with stores teams to align physical storage practices with data accuracy
- Provide technical guidance to user departments on requisitioning and returns procedures
- Prepare and circulate inventory level and consumption reports for management review
- Coordinate periodic inventory counts and internal audits
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing & Supplies, or Commerce (Supply Chain option)
- Membership or eligibility for membership with KISM
- Proven hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, IFMIS modules)
- At least 3 years’ experience in inventory planning, analysis, or reconciliation roles
