Job Description

Under the technical oversight of the UNOPS SSAFE Course Director, the Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environments (SSAFE) Instructor delivers critical safety training to UN personnel and partners. The role focuses on equipping field staff with the necessary skills to navigate high-risk environments safely. Working on an as-needed basis, the instructor facilitates practical simulations and classroom-based learning covering security awareness, first aid, and field survival techniques, ensuring all training meets stringent UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver SSAFE training modules including security awareness, communications, and emergency first aid
• Facilitate practical field simulations, such as vehicle safety, checkpoint procedures, and hostage survival
• Assist in the preparation of training materials, manuals, and simulation equipment
• Evaluate participant performance and provide constructive feedback during training sessions
• Ensure all training activities adhere to health and safety protocols and UNDSS quality standards
• Support the Course Director in updating curriculum content based on emerging security trends
• Maintain accurate records of training participation and performance assessments

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Security Management, Military Science, Social Sciences, or a related field
• Certified as a SSAFE Instructor by the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS)
• Extensive experience in security operations, military, or police service, preferably with international organizations
• Proven experience in facilitating high-stress field simulations and adult learning programs
• Proficiency in emergency trauma care or first aid instruction is highly desirable
• Excellent verbal communication and instructional skills in English
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural environment
