Solutions Technologist
Role Overview
The Solutions Technologist will support human rights investigations by designing, integrating, and automating data and technology solutions that enhance research, analysis, and secure data handling across Human Rights Watch.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain research-related tools, processes, and documentation.
- Acquire, process, and analyze data using techniques such as scraping, OCR, and machine-readable conversion.
- Develop secure and ethical data acquisition workflows in collaboration with information security teams.
- Automate research processes using scripts, open-source tools, and internal platforms.
- Collaborate with researchers to analyze data and publish findings accurately.
- Establish best practices for data storage, verification, and analysis across the organization.
- Support global teams working on digital investigations and open-source research.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education and professional experience demonstrating capability in technology, data systems, or research tooling.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development, data systems design, or IT.
- Experience in international human rights, journalism, or investigative environments preferred.
