Senior Relationship Manager, Institutional Banking

Role Overview

Institutional accounts demand precision: revenue targets, credit turnaround, portfolio risk, and stakeholder expectations all move at once. This role manages an institutional portfolio, grows assets and liabilities, and coordinates product partners to deliver solution-led banking while maintaining tight controls and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver institutional banking growth targets across revenue, fees and commissions, PBT, assets, liabilities, and customer numbers
  • Engage existing and new-to-bank institutional customers to build a stronger portfolio
  • Manage relationships with key institutional stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Resolve enquiries and complaints within service standards and track closure
  • Manage Portfolio at Risk (PAR) within agreed thresholds and maintain early warning oversight
  • Maintain turnaround times on institutional credit applications and approvals
  • Manage operational costs for the institutional segment within approved budgets
  • Maintain a strong monitoring, controls, business continuity, governance, and risk management environment
  • Partner with Corporate Banking Product House teams to co-create value propositions and solutions
  • Deputise the Sector Head, Institutional Banking, and support sector delivery when required

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage
  • Relevant certification in business development or finance is an advantage
  • 5–6 years’ banking experience with at least 4 years in institutional relationship management within corporate banking
  • Proven record of attaining growth and profitability targets
  • Strong understanding of banking market trends, challenges, and regulatory expectations
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with sound commercial judgement
