Job Description

The Senior Information System Auditor is responsible for independently planning and executing complex IT audits to safeguard the organization’s digital assets and infrastructure. This role provides strategic value by assessing IT risk posture across applications, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. The auditor ensures that Kenindia Assurance remains compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act and Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) guidelines. Reporting to the Internal Audit leadership, the role involves identifying vulnerabilities and recommending practical improvements to enhance the company’s cybersecurity governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead IT audits covering General Controls (ITGCs), application controls, and IT operations across the enterprise.
  • Conduct pre- and post-implementation reviews for major IT projects and system changes to ensure risk mitigation.
  • Audit third-party service providers and cloud-based environments with a focus on data protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop the IT audit risk universe and contribute to the formulation of the annual audit plan.
  • Identify and evaluate cybersecurity risks based on frameworks such as COBIT, NIST, ISO 27001, and ITIL.
  • Present high-quality audit reports and actionable recommendations to senior management and governance bodies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in IT auditing or technical cybersecurity roles.
  • Mandatory Certifications: CISA and at least one cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CISM, or CRISC).
  • Active membership in professional bodies such as ISACA or the IIA.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and experience auditing cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in using data analytics tools for audit engagements.
