Senior House Officer (Paediatrics & Child Health)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior House Officer to join our Paediatrics department, where you’ll spend your time clerkship-ing emergency cases, ordering critical diagnostics, and collaborating with consultants on complex treatment plans. Key Responsibilities

• You will manage ward and casualty work, from initial patient education to the preparation of final discharge summaries.
• You’ll perform physical examinations and order radiology or lab studies to triage emergency paediatric cases.
• Your day-to-day includes participating in specialist clinics and leading discussions on mortality and morbidity reviews.
• You will educate caregivers on wellness and early detection, ensuring they understand their rights to informed consent.
• You’ll help the conferences registrar organize research activities and track local data on common paediatric ailments.
• You will act as a role model for junior colleagues and nurses, maintaining a high standard of interpersonal professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
• Current registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
• Successful completion of an internship plus at least one year of post-internship experience.
• Valid BLS and PALS certificates (highly preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a commitment to managing work-related stress in a busy clinical setting.
