Job Description
Novotel is seeking an experienced Security Manager to assist in streamlining the security program for its property in Nairobi. This critical hospitality security job in Kenya requires a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology or related studies and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity. The Manager will safeguard guests, visitors, employees, and the property by designing/developing techniques to prevent waste, theft or pilferage, managing investigations, liaising with Law Enforcement Agencies (Police, Fire Brigade), and ensuring the team is trained on all safety provisions (CPR, First Aid, Basic Fire Fighting).

Role Overview
The Security Manager provides leadership, operational coordination, and strategic analysis for the entire hotel security function. Key duties include streamlining the security program, analyzing problems to develop solutions to prevent loss, submitting Annual Security Operations & Capital budgets, ensuring security equipment (CCTV, alarms, lock down systems) are functional, coordinating investigations with outside agencies, and ensuring special protection for VIPs and Government Dignitaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Strategy & Equipment: Assist to streamline the security program; ensure security equipments (alarms, CCTV monitoring) are installed and functional; continuously assess the adequacy of security controls.
- Loss Prevention: Design & develop techniques to prevent or minimize waste, theft or pilferage.
- Compliance & SOPs: Adhere to and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); ensure compliance with fire prevention and safety procedures (checking exhibits during conventions).
- Investigation & Legal Liaison: Coordinate all investigations regarding theft or damage of property with outside agencies & legal representatives; represent the bank in court cases; ensure knowledge of the laws of arrest, search and seizure.
- Team Management: Ensure the team has been trained for all safety provisions (CPR, First Aid, Basic Fire Fighting); motivate and develop staff; constant supervision of team members.
- Budget & Reporting: Submit Annual Security Operations & Capital budgets to the General Manager; ensure Daily Activity Report reflects a true account of security activities.
- VIP Protection: Ensure to offer special protection to VIPs and Government Dignitaries.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts in Criminology or related studies.
- Certification: Certificates in CPR, First Aid Management and Basic Fire Fighting are mandatory.
- Ethics: No criminal record.
