Risk, Governance, and Compliance Assistant
Role Overview
Save the Children requires a Risk, Governance, and Compliance Assistant to support the internal audit and control functions within our Kenya program. This is a factual, audit-focused position involving the systematic review of field office processes to ensure they align with SCI and donor regulations. The role is responsible for documenting audit findings, tracking the implementation of corrective actions, and assisting in fraud investigations. You will work under the guidance of the Compliance Manager to ensure that all assets are safeguarded and that the organization remains in full compliance with both donor requirements and Kenyan law.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audits of field office financial and non-financial processes according to the annual plan.
- Maintain and update the audit action tracker, following up with departmental leads on outstanding tasks.
- Act as a custodian for the whistle-blowing and fraud policy, ensuring all reports are filed correctly in the Datix system.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of external project audits, identifying all required documentation.
- Review grant files and donor reports prior to audits to verify that all compliance points have been addressed.
- Participate in Risk Management Committee meetings and track the progress of agreed-upon mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance or an equivalent field.
- Professional accounting qualifications (CPA Part III or ACCA II).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in auditing, grants management, or donor compliance.
- Technical knowledge of compliance regulations for major donors such as USAID, EU, and the UN.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%) to various field locations across Kenya.
