Save the Children is seeking a Specialist, Resource Centre to act as the primary focal point for its global digital knowledge platform in Nairobi. This specialized NGO technology and content job in Kenya requires substantial experience in digital knowledge platforms and technical literacy in CMS (WordPress), AWS, and APIs. The Specialist will oversee the platform’s technical performance and content quality, managing third-party developers, ensuring GDPR compliance, curating multilingual resources, and developing content strategies to promote discoverability and user engagement across the organization.

Role Overview

The Resource Centre Specialist balances technical oversight with strategic content curation. Key responsibilities include liaising with developers for security and feature development, monitoring system performance and analytics, reviewing and uploading incoming resources with meticulous attention to metadata and SEO tags, and enforcing the Image Policy (replacing child photos with illustrations for safeguarding). The role requires a strategic mindset and strong vendor management skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Platform & Technical Oversight: Act as the primary focal point for the Resource Centre platform (hosted on AWS with NextJS frontend/WordPress CMS); liaise with third-party developers, monitor system performance, and manage API connections (Global CMS, SharePoint).
  • Content Curation & Quality: Review and upload incoming resources, ensuring meticulous metadata completeness (title, abstract, keywords, SEO tags). Audit the platform for broken links and outdated resources.
  • Safeguarding & Image Policy: Apply and rigorously enforce the Image Policy, ensuring child photos are replaced with illustrations or stock visuals for safety and compliance.
  • Multilingual Consistency: Maintain multilingual consistency across content pages in English, French, Spanish, Swedish, Dutch, and Arabic.
  • Content Strategy & Engagement: Develop and implement a user-focused content strategy, source high-quality resources from thematic experts and country offices, and promote new content via internal and external communication channels.
  • Copyright & Governance: Manage copyright agreements for external materials, securing permissions, recording agreements, and ensuring compliance with GDPR, IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), and Creative Commons licenses.
  • Vendor Management & Reporting: Manage quarterly invoicing and budgeting with external developers, and produce usage reports and analytics for SCI leadership.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience: Substantial experience in digital knowledge platforms, resource centres, or large content management roles; proven track record managing vendors, digital platforms, or large content repositories.
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with CMS (WordPress), cloud hosting (AWS), APIs, and analytics tools (Google Analytics). Good Microsoft SharePoint skills.
  • Content Management: Strong writing, editing, and cataloging skills, with meticulous attention to metadata, multilingual content, and accessibility.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of GDPR, IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), data privacy, and content governance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Communications, International Development, or a related field (Master’s degree desirable).
