The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) seeks a Research Officer I to support agroecological field operations and technical backstopping within the RMRN-EA project. Role Overview
The Research Officer will coordinate and support technical operations in living labs, contributing to the testing and validation of agroecological innovations. The position emphasizes hands-on research, data analysis, and collaboration with extension officers and national partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical backstopping and capacity building to partners, extension officers, and farmers.
- Manage field equipment and coordinate bioassays under laboratory and field conditions.
- Lead rearing and release of insects for experimental trials.
- Collate field data via the ODK platform and conduct exploratory data analysis.
- Draft reports, manuscripts, and scientific communication materials.
- Support stakeholder engagement events, exhibitions, and agricultural field days.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Agriculture, or related biological sciences.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in field-based research or agroecology projects.
- Proven skills in insect rearing, field experimentation, and data visualization.
- Strong report writing and stakeholder coordination skills.
