Relationship Manager, Agriculture
Role Overview
This role builds the agriculture book through disciplined prospecting, structured client management, and consistent follow-through on pipeline conversion. You will manage relationships, support credit processes, grow deposits and transaction activity, and track portfolio health closely.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Agriculture Sector business development initiatives aligned to the Bank’s growth strategy
- Generate new business through research, targeted networking, and structured prospecting
- Develop and maintain a client and transaction pipeline and convert it into funded business
- Market agriculture banking products to new and existing clients and support product uptake
- Identify and coordinate cross-sell opportunities across relevant bank products and services
- Manage ongoing client engagement to strengthen partnerships and improve service delivery
- Drive internal coordination so client requirements are met within set service standards
- Maintain compliance with agriculture sector standards, policies, and procedures
- Work with Regional, Branch, and Support teams to grow market share and reduce non-performing exposure
- Drive deposits and account utilisation in collaboration with Branch Managers
- Grow transactional income from the agriculture client base through effective servicing
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to management to inform decisions
- Support portfolio management through risk identification and mitigation actions
- Conduct preliminary credit reviews and recommend facilities within policy and compliance requirements
- Monitor performing and non-performing accounts and support post-disbursement monitoring
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or equivalent
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage
- Relevant certification in business development or finance is an advantage
- 5 years’ banking experience, including at least 3 years in agriculture relationship management
- Strong analytical and commercial thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and work across teams
- Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements in banking operations
