Tenwek Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Registration & Billing Clerk in Nairobi. This critical hospital finance and administration job in Kenya requires a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, CPA – Part 2/Intermediate Level, and a minimum of 1–2 years of clerical or accounting experience in the health sector. The Clerk will be responsible for accurately registering clients and generating billing statements while ensuring professional standards, adherence to hospital policies, and efficient use of medical billing software and documentation.

Role Overview

The Registration & Billing Clerk manages the financial front-end of the patient journey. Key duties include accurate patient registration, generating precise billing statements, ensuring timely follow-up, demonstrating knowledge of medical billing software and documentation evaluation, performing multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, and upholding a track record of high integrity while meeting ambitious targets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Registration & Billing: Accurately register clients and generate precise billing statements in line with professional standards.
  • Documentation & Software: Demonstrate knowledge of medical billing software and medical documentation evaluation; utilize intermediate proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Compliance: Uphold professional standards and office etiquette in line with hospital policies and prevailing regulations.
  • Financial Processes: Support accounting processes and ensure correct application of tariffs and charges.
  • Escalation & Resolution: Understand escalation triggers and utilize problem-solving skills to improvise applicable solutions in complex situations.
  • Efficiency: Apply multi-tasking and time-management skills to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision.
  • Integrity: Maintain a track record of integrity and meet ambitious targets.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of clerical or accounting experience or a similar position in the health sector.
  • Education: Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Part 2/Intermediate Level is mandatory. CHIMS (Certified Health Information Management Systems) is also listed.
  • Professional Membership: Membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
  • Skills: Demonstrable knowledge of medical billing software and medical documentation evaluation; strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
