Quality Management Systems Specialist – KWAL Kenya

Role Overview

The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Specialist will lead implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of KWAL’s ISO-certified systems. This role ensures full compliance with statutory and international quality benchmarks while driving process excellence and fostering a culture of total quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and enhance KWAL’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety programs.
• Lead internal and third-party audits to uphold compliance with ISO, FSSC, and Heineken standards.
• Develop and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and checklists aligned with global best practices.
• Oversee food safety management, including HACCP and Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs).
• Coordinate environmental, health, and safety compliance (NEMA, DOSH, EMCA, EPR).
• Supervise laboratory operations under the Laboratory Star System (LSS).
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all QMS and compliance activities.
• Train staff on quality, food safety, and environmental awareness.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry.
• Professional certification in Quality Systems, Occupational Safety (NEBOSH), or ESG.
• Lead Auditor certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or FSSC 22000.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
