Tasks to Be Performed
The consultant will support coordination of IOM’s regional emergency health programming under the Regional Office in Nairobi. The role works closely with the Regional Technical Specialist – Migration Health to strengthen emergency preparedness and response initiatives.
Key responsibilities include providing technical support grounded in evidence-based public health approaches, supporting proposal development, crisis response planning, and donor reporting for country offices. The consultant will also contribute to knowledge management initiatives, including SharePoint platforms, communities of practice, webinars, and institutional documentation.
The role supports regional technical policy guidance and contributes to IOM’s health response for crisis-affected populations, working in close coordination with related technical areas such as MHPSS, WASH, maternal and reproductive health, displacement tracking, and GBV.
Additional duties include attending inter-agency and donor meetings, compiling guidance notes and lessons learned, supporting health information management systems and PRIMA/SRF indicators, contributing to case studies and annual reporting, and supporting staff capacity building through trainings, webinars, and field visits.
Performance Indicators
All outputs are expected to meet agreed quality standards and be delivered within the defined consultancy period.
Qualifications
Education
– Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with 7 years’ relevant experience; or
– Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field with 5 years’ relevant experience
Experience
– Background in public health programming, including disease control, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, or research
– Experience in needs assessments and public health analysis
– Familiarity with statistical analysis
– GIS experience (ArcGIS) is an advantage
– Knowledge of project development, monitoring, and evaluation
– Understanding of social and development issues
