Project Officer
Role Overview
This role is field-heavy and delivery-driven. Based in Makueni County, you will coordinate county-level implementation, ensure activities land on time and at quality, and keep partners aligned with the local TVET ecosystem, county priorities, and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager and Consortium Activity Coordinator with planning and scheduling through weekly work plans and updates
- Coordinate day-to-day field activities under the Activity Coordinator’s supervision
- Maintain regular communication with project partners, local authorities, and stakeholders on the ground
- Provide technical and operational support to the three selected Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) for implementation, monitoring, and reporting
- Organise field activities in line with approved work plans; consult on required adjustments to activity design or delivery
- Manage logistics and operational arrangements for field activities, including missions involving regional support staff
- Provide on-the-ground support to project consultants during assignments
- Participate in weekly coordination meetings with regional support and field teams to plan upcoming work, address challenges, and document lessons learned
- Prepare and submit monthly requests for funds for field activities to the Activity Coordinator
- Compile and submit supporting expense documentation for the previous month to the Project Accountant
- Prepare and submit monthly project reports to the Activity Coordinator on schedule
- Ensure continuous collection, quality checking, and timely transmission of project data; flag discrepancies and follow up
- Carry out operational oversight tasks, including monitoring and evaluation field visits as required
- Conduct data collection, prepare reports, and update monitoring and activity-tracking tools consistently
- Represent CEFA in meetings with local authorities and other stakeholders as delegated
- Participate in project forums, conferences, roundtables, and related events
- Promote collaboration and synergies across partners, government institutions, and local communities in Makueni County
- Perform other duties within project scope as assigned by the Activity Coordinator or Project Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in field-based roles, preferably in education, TVET, or development projects within Makueni County
- Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field (Bachelor’s/Master’s in the same fields is a strong asset)
- Strong understanding of the social, economic, and institutional context of Makueni County, especially education/TVET
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
- Good written and spoken English and Kiswahili
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office and internet use)
- Experience working with local authorities, VTCs, and community stakeholders is an advantage
- Able to ride a motorbike and hold a valid Class A motorcycle licence
