Role Overview
The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to cutting-edge research under the Red Palm Weevil (RPW) Project. The position focuses on developing nature-based, sustainable pest management strategies, including RNA interference (RNAi) and biological control innovations, while enhancing biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate sustainable RPW control strategies, including parasitoid and RNAi-based gene-silencing methods.
- Formulate and test nanotechnology-based delivery systems for enhanced biocontrol efficacy.
- Coordinate project implementation with national and international partners.
- Design and deliver training programs on climate-resilient agricultural practices.
- Translate laboratory research into field-ready technologies and validate through field trials.
- Publish peer-reviewed papers and prepare policy briefs and technical reports.
- Disseminate research outcomes through stakeholder workshops and scientific conferences.
- Mentor graduate students, interns, and technical staff.
- Contribute to research grant proposals and resource mobilization.
Qualifications
- PhD in Entomology, Zoology, Agriculture, or related discipline.
- Minimum one year of postgraduate research experience.
- Proven expertise in integrated pest management and insect symbiosis.
- Experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and biotechnology.
- At least three peer-reviewed publications in pest management or related fields.
- Strong mentoring and supervision record.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French or another language is an advantage.
