Bahati Hospital is seeking a qualified Pharmaceutical Technologist to join its team in Nairobi. This essential hospital pharmacy job in Kenya requires a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution and a minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in a busy hospital setting. The Technologist must have Registration and a valid medical practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) to ensure the safe, professional, and compliant dispensing of pharmaceuticals within the hospital environment.

Role Overview

The Pharmaceutical Technologist will manage daily pharmacy operations within the hospital setting. Key duties include ensuring that all dispensing activities are accurate and compliant with the PPB, providing essential pharmaceutical care and advice to patients, collaborating with clinical staff, and maintaining strict control over the hospital’s drug inventory, storage, and record-keeping.


Key Responsibilities

  • Dispensing & Care: Accurately and safely dispense medication as prescribed by clinical staff; provide essential pharmaceutical care and counseling to patients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure and maintain valid Registration and a practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
  • Inventory Control: Maintain strict inventory management of all pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper storage conditions and timely replenishment.
  • Hospital Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure seamless medication management and patient safety.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and complete record-keeping of all dispensed medications and controlled substances.

Qualifications and Competence Required

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a busy hospital setting.
  • Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Registration: Registration and valid medical practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) are mandatory.
