PC12 Captain

Role Overview

This is a command role with zero room for shortcuts. You will operate AMREF Flying Doctors aircraft as Flight Commander across aero-medical missions and other approved flights, maintaining strict compliance with operations manuals and aviation regulations in every country of operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Command AMREF flights including aero-medical missions, humanitarian, hospital, and company flights
  • Operate to the highest safety standards and in line with AMREF operations manuals and applicable aviation regulations
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of company manuals, KCARS, Kenyan AIP, and KCAA circulars/directives/notices
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations across all jurisdictions of operation
  • Complete statutory and company flight documentation accurately
  • Implement safety, security, and emergency standards in daily operations
  • Lead and support mission crew and assist with patient/passenger care where practical
  • Conduct functional checks or maintenance test flights when required
  • Support flight planning and dispatch needs for areas of operation
  • Train and coach junior pilots within areas of demonstrated competence
  • Support the Chief Pilot’s office on flight operations, safety, quality assurance, and related activities
  • Promote company values and protect the organisation’s public profile
  • Perform other assigned duties related to flight operations

Qualifications

  • Kenyan citizen with a valid Kenya ATPL and multi-engine instrument rating
  • Minimum 3000 total flight hours
  • Minimum 1000 hours in command, including 250 hours in command on a multi-crew turbine aircraft
  • Strong understanding of Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations (KCARS)
  • Proven safety record and solid experience with planning/dispatch in ad-hoc commercial operations
  • Experience flying in Eastern Africa, including remote airstrips and seasonal weather conditions
  • Aviation operations management systems exposure and safety/quality systems experience is an advantage
