This role is crucial for supporting the implementation of nutrition-focused technical assistance within the IGNITE+ model, allowing the intern to gain hands-on experience in program design, capacity building, and report preparation while working within a global agricultural development NGO in Kenya.

Role Overview
The Nutrition Intern will actively support the technical team in integrating nutrition-sensitive approaches into agricultural activities for Tanager’s clients under the IGNITE+ model. Key functions include assisting with the development of capacity-building tools, delivering participatory training sessions, and contributing to high-quality project documentation and reporting, ensuring organizational standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Technical Support: Assist in the development and practical implementation of nutrition-focused technical assistance based on the IGNITE+ model’s framework.
- Strengthen Systems: Contribute to the efforts aimed at strengthening clients’ institutional systems and structures for effective nutrition integration.
- Design and Deliver Training: Support the design and delivery of participatory training, workshops, and sensitization sessions on nutrition integration for various clients.
- Develop Tools: Assist in the development and piloting of practical capacity building tools that seamlessly integrate both gender and nutrition into agriculture project design.
- Client Response: Handle routine, simple client queries efficiently and accurately, escalating complex issues to senior staff for timely resolution.
- Prepare Reports: Support the team in meticulously preparing nutrition-related reports, ensuring adherence to Tanager’s corporate standards and quality controls.
- Learning and Attendance: Accompany Tanager staff to key partner meetings and workshops, actively contributing to project learning and knowledge-sharing activities.
- General Support: Perform other related administrative and program support duties as required by the technical team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Development Studies, Agricultural Economics, or another relevant field is required.
- Recent Graduate: Recently completed a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields (within the last 12–18 months) or awaiting graduation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge Base: Good theoretical and practical understanding of global and continental commitment mechanisms for nutrition in agriculture, particularly involving governments, NGOs, and the private sector.
- Concepts: Familiarity with the concepts and approaches related to nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
- Communication: Strong written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and well-organized documents.
- IT Skills: Advanced proficiency in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Language: Fluency in both written and oral English is required; knowledge of French is considered an advantage.
