Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu is seeking a qualified Nursing Officer for the Aga Khan Medical Centre in Lodwar, Kisumu. This crucial healthcare job in Kenya requires a KRCHN/BSc. Role Overview
The Nursing Officer is responsible for the direct clinical care and safety of patients, with a focus on critically ill patients. Key duties include identifying patient needs and adapting care plans, ensuring meticulous and timely documentation of all assessments and interactions, participating in quality improvement projects and audits (e.g., IPSG), and safeguarding patient confidentiality and hospital property. Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Planning: Identify patients’ specific needs, prioritize care for critically ill patients, and adopt/adjust care plans accordingly.
- Safety & Infection Control: Ensure a safe environment for patients through strict adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies; perform timely safety checks.
- Documentation: Ensure documentation of all assessment data, investigation results, care given, and discussions with the multidisciplinary team in an accurate, comprehensive, and timely manner.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in nursing education activities, quality improvement projects, audits, spot checks, and skill checks; carry out audits on IPSG (International Patient Safety Goals) and infection prevention measures.
- Compliance: Uphold statutory regulations as required by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and the laws of Kenya; safeguard confidential information and property.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: KRCHN, BSc. Nursing.
- Experience: At least 2 years of work experience.
- Certification: Valid Nursing practice license; BLS certified (Basic Life Support).
- Professional Status: Must be a member of a professional body.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative, and customer care skills.
