Job Description
An engineering client in Nairobi, Kenya, specializing in heavy machinery parts for the manufacturing, oil and gas industry, is seeking a competent Injector Pump Technician. This specialized role requires hands-on technical expertise in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of injector pumps and parts across various brands, combined with strong technical sales and business development skills.
Position Summary & Impact 🎯
The Injector Pump Technician provides crucial technical expertise and support for clients in the heavy machinery sector. The core duties involve inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and testing injector pumps, alongside active participation in sales and marketing activities. The technician must proactively source sales leads, conduct comprehensive market research, develop customer profiles, and ensure prompt response to customer complaints to enhance satisfaction and retention in the Kenyan engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities 🔑
- Provide hands-on technical expertise regarding injector pumps and related parts across various brands.
- Inspect, repair, maintain, and test injectors and conduct routine maintenance and servicing on pumps.
- Assist in testing and repairing the Pump/Injectors as per the job order and standard repair procedure.
- Actively source sales leads and participate in the planning and execution of marketing and sales promotional activities.
- Conduct customer visits and support through training, supply of catalogues, and training materials.
- Develop a detailed customer profile to understand current and future requirements for heavy machinery spare parts.
- Prepare accurate quotations promptly to inform customers of prices and stock availability, and close sales.
- Follow up with credit customers to ensure timely payment for parts purchased on credit.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure proper inventory management and reporting.
Essential Qualifications & Experience 🎓
- Mandatory Requirement: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Mechanics, or Diesel Engine Works.
- Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a similar technical role.
- Sales Expertise: Requires Excellent sales experience and a proactive approach to business development.
- Knowledge: Competency in working with various brands of injector pumps and heavy machinery parts.
- Skills: Strong communication, time management skills, and ability to handle work pressure.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a plus for reporting and quotations.
