Job Description
The ICT Clerk provides specialized technical support to ensure the continuous operation of the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) and other digital registration tools. This role is responsible for the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software in the field. The ICT Clerk serves as the first level of technical intervention, maintaining data integrity and system security while supporting registration officials in the secure transmission and backup of voter data.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and operate KIEMS kits and related ICT peripherals for voter registration exercises
- Provide first-level technical support and hardware/software troubleshooting for field officials
- Facilitate the secure transmission, synchronization, and backup of voter registration data to the central server
- Maintain strict custody and accountability records for all assigned ICT equipment
- Document ICT logs, incident reports, and equipment handover records to ensure transparency
- Conduct basic ICT operations training for voter registration clerks and assistants
- Uphold data security, system integrity, and confidentiality in accordance with IEBC policies
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, and networking protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot common ICT hardware and connectivity issues under high-pressure conditions
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered voter with demonstrated neutrality
- Availability to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Must not have held political office or acted as a party agent in the last five years
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to data confidentiality
