Job Description

The Housemistress serves as the heart of the boarding community, creating a nurturing and structured environment where pupils feel heard and valued. This role is responsible for the overall pastoral care, welfare, and personal development of pupils within the House. Acting as a positive role model, the Housemistress works in partnership with parents and school leadership to ensure the House is a “home from home” that supports emotional, social, and academic flourishing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pastoral care and oversee the general welfare and safety of pupils in the House
• Foster a nurturing and inspiring environment that promotes personal and moral development
• Collaborate with Housemasters and fellow Housemistresses to ensure consistent boarding standards
• Attend departmental meetings and contribute to strategic pastoral discussions and decision-making
• Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, tutors, and resident staff
• Advocate for the needs of pupils within the broader school structure
• Maintain a reflective and adaptable approach to meet the unique character of the assigned House
• Act as a senior ambassador for Peponi School, upholding institutional values at all times

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in pastoral care, ideally within a residential or boarding school setting
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire young people in a structured environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with parents and senior staff
• High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to advocate for pupil needs
• Ability to work collaboratively within a senior leadership team
• Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and institutional ambassadors
