Job Description

The Housemaster plays a central role in Peponi School’s boarding life, taking overall responsibility for the pastoral care and safety of the pupils in his House. He is tasked with building an environment that is both structured and inspiring, allowing pupils to flourish across social, academic, and moral dimensions. Reporting to the Deputy Head Pastoral, the Housemaster serves as a primary link between the school and parents, ensuring that the boarding experience is a positive and transformative part of the pupils’ education.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations and pastoral leadership of the assigned boarding house
• Ensure the safety, welfare, and emotional well-being of all pupils under his care
• Work in partnership with resident staff and tutors to monitor pupil progress and development
• Participate in regular meetings with fellow House staff to ensure best practices across the boarding community
• Serve as a key point of contact for parents regarding their children’s boarding life and personal growth
• Maintain a role-model status, demonstrating the values and professional expectations of Peponi School
• Advocate for pupils’ needs and contribute thoughtfully to school-wide pastoral policy
• Create a home-like atmosphere that balances academic focus with social and emotional support

Qualifications & Experience

• Significant experience in education or pastoral care, preferably in a boarding environment
• Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on student mentorship and personal development
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for stakeholder engagement
• Ability to remain adaptable and reflective in a fast-paced residential setting
• High standards of professional integrity and a commitment to child safeguarding
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team of house staff
